Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 (16 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
1 cup beef broth
1 (4 ounce) can diced green chiles
¾ tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon salt
2 (15 ounce) cans ranch-style beans

Directions

  1. Crumble beef into a large pot over medium-high heat, add onion and garlic. Cook and stir beef until completely browned, 7 to 10 minutes. Drain and discard excess grease. Return pot to medium-high heat.

  2. Stir diced tomatoes, beef broth, diced green chilies, chili powder, brown sugar, oregano, cumin, and salt through the beef mixture. Add beans and bring to a boil.

  3. Reduce heat to medium-low, place a cover on the pot, and simmer for 1 hour.
