Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter a baking dish.
Mix hash browns, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and Cheddar cheese in a large bowl. Place in the prepared baking dish. Mix cornflakes and butter together and spread on top of hash browns.
Bake in the preheated oven until the sauce is bubbly and the top is golden brown, about 45 minutes.
